WHO WE ARE
Primary Purpose Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in December 2014, has been transforming lives since opening our doors in November 2016. We provide Level 2 and Level 3 supportive recovery housing at no cost to individuals in Lorain County struggling with substance use disorder.
With 88 beds across three locations, we offer a safe, structured recovery environment designed to support lasting sobriety and resident advancement. Our comprehensive 60-day Level 3 program features over 7 hours of daily programming Monday through Friday, including off-site Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Outpatient Program (OP) services, 12-step meetings, facilitated groups, peer support, religious services, and "PrimaryWorks" workforce development. We cover all essentials—three daily meals prepared by our full-time cook, hygiene products, laundry facilities and detergent, and clothing when needed.
Our Impact:
In 2025, we served approximately 300 residents through our Level 3 program. 65% successfully completed the program with less than 1% experiencing relapse. Over 60% transitioned to our Level 2 program, where 80% achieved successful completion with an average stay of 11 months.
Setting the Standard:
Primary Purpose Center is the only recovery housing organization in Ohio accredited by both Ohio Recovery Housing (ORH) and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)—a distinction that holds us to the highest standards for resident safety and structure.
